Rural Voices 2030 is a global initiative uniting young people to champion the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 15 (Life on Land). The project leverages global citizenship education and participatory approaches to address critical challenges in rural communities, fostering sustainable development through youth engagement and gender-responsive solutions.
As the African partner in this cross-border collaboration, the Strategic Youth Network for Development (SYND) plays a pivotal role in bringing the voices of young Africans into this conversation. By drawing on Ghana’s rural realities and challenges, SYND provides an African perspective on soil protection, gender equality, and rural sustainability. Our work not only feeds into the project’s global framework but also ensures its outcomes resonate with the unique socio-environmental dynamics of Africa.
Soil, often overlooked, is the foundation of life on Earth—providing nutrients for plants, regulating water systems, and hosting biodiversity critical for climate stability. Yet, land degradation and unsustainable practices threaten rural livelihoods across the globe. Rural Voices 2030 seeks to tackle these challenges head-on, raising awareness, building capacity, and fostering connections between rural areas and global action.
SYND ‘s partnership on the rural voices 2030 project primarily hinges on bridging the European and African perspectives on the topic of soil protection and gender equality. Through this project, we aim to inspire a new generation of climate-conscious youth leaders who will champion soil protection and gender equality as pillars of sustainable development, both in Africa and globally.
