Our meetings opened with a rapturous singing of the national youth anthem, “Arise Ghana Youth.” The session focused on exploring possible funding sources by tapping into projects aligned with set goals.

Addressing participants at the opening of the session, the executive coordinator of the Strategic Youth Network for Development, Chibeze Ezekiel, admonished participants to take advantage of the platform to actively engage in their communities to influence the governance of natural resources for the mutual benefit of these communities.

Leads on projects outside SYND’s regular stream of work also shared information on these projects and how they are helping them take advantage of available funding to touch lives.

To help members effectively work, the Country Manager of BudgIT Ghana, Jennifer Moffatt gave participants a presentation on how they can effectively engage their local assemblies for climate action.

In her presentation, she highlighted the need to understand how local assemblies work as they remain the fulcrum of Ghana’s comprehensive development. She went on to encourage participants to actively participate in democratic processes in their locals. These include voting in assembly member elections.

Finally, the meeting closed with a rigorous practical session that helped them identify projects and how to access funding for them. Presentations followed.
