SYND partnered the Wildlife Division of the Ada Forestry Commission to embark on their first youth-led Mangrove restoration project in Wasakuse, Ada on 7th March 2024.
This initiative which resulted in the planting of 2,000 red Mangrove seedlings of the Rhizophora Racemosa species was aimed at promoting biodiversity conservation and enhancing climate resilience of the surrounding communities.
Chief of Wasakuse, Nene Sewu Teye III planted the first seedling to commence the event. He expressed his appreciation to the team and the wildlife committee and encouraged them to embark on more of such projects.
Executive Coordinator of SYND, Chibeze Ezekiel also thanked the chief and community members for their support, highlighting the importance of collaboration in sustaining the ecosystem.
After the successful planting exercise, the head of the Biodiversity team at SYND, Gifty Elikplim Agbenyefia urged the participants to treat the seedlings as babies by having their growth at heart as the only way to achieve the advocated sustainable environment is to contribute to biodiversity conservation.
